We are delighted to announce that we have had confirmation that our ‘Green Site Power Package’ has been awarded a 2020 Green Apple award.
The ‘Green Site Power Package’ is a combination of solar panels and batteries, backed up by a diesel generator, to deliver low emission electricity to a construction site. The principal aim of ‘Green Site Power Package’ is to utilise the emission-free battery power, with the diesel generator only operational when the battery levels are low and need a recharge.
The system utilises innovative thin-film solar panels and Lithium iron phosphate batteries. The solar panels are designed to be the principal power source to ensure that the batteries remain fully charged at all times. Should there be insufficient power from the panels the generator will automatically start and take over the recharging operation.
Commenting on this award, Mat Llewellyn said, “This is the first time that we have entered these awards, so to win first time round is something that we are extremely proud to achieve. Our sales and engineering teams have worked very hard to put together this revolutionary system, which has already helped to save thousands of litres of fuel and drastically reduce C02 emissions.”
To win this award, we had to submit an elaborate appraisal of the system, including the project aims and achievements, alongside a detailed description of how the ‘Green Site Power Package’ operates.
We have been invited to receive their award at a ceremony held at the Palace of Westminster on 23rd November 2020.
The Green Apple Awards are presented by the renowned environmental campaigners, the Green Organisation. Established in 1994, The Green Organisation is an independent, international, non-profit, non-political environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding,
and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
Due to the continued disruption to the events industry caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Showman’s Show is moving online with a programme of digital content. We, of course, would have been there displaying a range of equipment, all ideally suited for the outside events markets. You can view the equipment right here:
MHM New Equipment Sales, MHM Used Equipment Sales, MHM Rehire Division
Following our very successful Executive Hire Show, we have been working hard to bring to the market place, a range of innovative new products and services.
To ensure that all our equipment and our unique rehire service are clearly represented we are now ready to announce the launch of three new divisions – MHM New Equipment Sales, MHM Used Equipment Sales,
and MHM Rehire Division.
The creation of these new divisions will have their own individual identities and logos whilst remaining under the umbrella of the MHM Group.
We have undergone a significant transformation in the past ten years. The development of these new divisions is part of our overall business objectives to continue to grow by adding environmentally focussed new products and expanding their services.
Our product range has always been available to purchase brand new or quality used. Our rehire service is available right across the range but is restricted to bone fide rental firms operating in the UK or Ireland.
The new divisions will feature across all of our online and offline channels with separate websites and social media platforms. They will each be managed by experienced personnel and fully supported by all of our sales managers and company directors.
Explaining the decision to create these divisions, Mat Llewellyn said, “These new divisions represent a significant move forward in MHM’s evolution. Our aim in creating these divisions is to give each of our services a clear identity so that any company wishing to purchase or rehire our equipment swiftly determine which option is relevant to them.”
The HITs scheme was devised to promote the highest level of quality, competence and safety throughout the UK hire industry. A successful applicant to the HITs programme has to pass a stringent online assessment and then successfully complete a due diligence process carried out by an appointed HAE assessor.
The HITs certification is also a hallmark of quality in training, safety and sound environmental practises.
On achieving this status, Mat Llewellyn commented, “Our Re-Hire division has had HAE Safe Hire accreditation for a number of years, but we felt it necessary to give peace of mind to all our clients that whole Group should be formally recognised. We are very proud to be given this award. To be part of Hire Industry Trusted Suppliers group is an important stage in the development of the MHM Group and we will always strive to maintain the values attributed to HITs scheme,” added Mat.
The HITs scheme is designed to help hire and rental organisations to confidently access reliable information from HAE supply chain members who have proven their competencies.
Information on how to gain Hire Industry Trusted Supplier status can be obtained from visiting www.hae.org.uk.
“Deciding to invest in a range of fluid tanks was one of the easier decisions we’ve had to make during our ten years in business,” comments Mat Llewellyn. “Naturally, our line of generators, lighting towers, and welders all need refuelling from time to time, so having the option to offer our clients a complete package seemed a sensible conclusion.”
The first of these fluid tanks that we have brought to the market place is the Fuel Buddy. The Fuel Buddy is available in both 950, 2000 and 3000-litre sizes with the 950 and 2000 models available either skid-mounted or fitted onto road tow braked trailers. Presently, the 3000-litre version is only available skid mounted. All are delivered with a three-year warranty. To assist against ground contamination, they each feature a fully bunded base that retains all spilled fluids and their handy stackable design is particularly useful for safe storage when space is at a premium. Each Fuel Buddy is equipped with a lockable access/storage hatch for the pump kit (electric or hand) and the generator or heater connection kit. For added versatility, the tanks have been designed to be quickly interchangeable, as only a few bolts are required to secure the tank to the trailer. A user also has the alternative to either manually operates the fuel delivery pump or take up the option of a 12, 110, or 230-volt system. There is also a further option for a petrol-driven pump. For added protection, an anti-slip chequered plate is fitted at the front for steady access to the cabinet space.
All of these features help to make the Fuel Buddy ideally suited for hire companies – enabling a rental firm to offer either static or towable tanks with their clients’ preferred transfer pump option. It only takes around fifteen minutes to change to the preferred pump.
For sound loading and unloading the Fuel Buddy is supplied with four forklift pockets and lifting eyes. Its attractive and protective galvanised framework with a durable powder coated paint finish, renders the Fuel Buddy robust, rugged and ‘rental-ready’ in just about any environment.
With environmental considerations at the forefront, we have included the option of having a 30w solar panel fitted to the Fuel Buddy. This system is designed to trickle feed a charging kit situated inside the cabinet, which in turn, provides a similar charge to a 12v battery. This dual operation results in supplying sufficient power to the 12v fuel transfer pump.
All our tanks are available for purchase brand new or, quality used. They are also available for rehire to bona fide UK and Ireland rentals firms. Currently, we have an extra offer of some attractively priced ex-demo units which include the three-year warranty
We are all too well aware that many of our customers depend on our ability to provide a reliable, continuous hire and sales service. So, with the recent developments surrounding this Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, we would like to reassure all MHM customers that we have put measures into place that will help us to maintain an emergency service.
All MHM staff members are now working from home, but each one of us can still be easily contacted via our respective mobile telephones and email addresses. Refer to http://www.mhmplant.co.uk/contact.php for all contact details. In addition, all our depots have been closed, but they will remain accessible to nominated employees for urgent supplies.
Tool and Plant Hire has been officially designated as an exception under the Government guidelines for business closures. Therefore, if you have any requirements for power generation, site lighting, fluid storage etc., then please continue to contact us. Although we cannot guarantee a full service, we will do whatever we can to satisfy all requests.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and comply with the guidance provided by the UK Government.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their support during this crisis and trust that everyone remains healthy and happy.
If anyone requires any further information, please do not hesitate to contact a MHM team member.
Mat Llewellyn – Managing Director – MHM Plant Limited
We are pleased to announce our appointment as an official dealer for Honda inverter generators.
Mat Llewellyn explains, “Over the past few years, we have developed a range of ‘ready to rent’ generators from 3.0kVA to 160kVA, all manufactured by our factory in Italy. However, we were very much aware that we needed to expand our supply and take on a line of inverter units”.
Mat continues, “We believe that the Honda range of inverter generators is the best on the market, offering a range of cost-effective benefits for our clients. We are delighted to be awarded this dealership.”
Initially, we will be marketing four Honda inverter sets, the EU10I (1.25kVA), EU22I (2.75kVA), EU30I (3.75kVA) and the EU70I (8.75kVA). Stock will be held at our headquarters in South Wales, ready for nationwide distribution.
A full spare parts service and maintenance provisions are already in place to support all users of our generators, including the new Honda sets.
The Honda EU sets are powered by a unique Honda inverter alternator and feature low oil pressure shutdown. The EU10I and the EU22I both have easy carry handles and are super-quiet. The larger EU30I and EU70I sets offer the same features with the exception that they are transported around a site via a simple to use trolley kit.
We are celebrating!
Following the unveiling of this year’s finalists for the prestigious Hire Awards of Excellence, we are delighted to announce that we have been nominated in a record five categories.
Our brand new website – www.mhmplant.co.uk – is up for ‘Website of the Year, whilst our environmentally sustainable MGTP 6000 Solar Hybrid Generator is listed in the ‘Hire Industry Product of the Year’. We have also been put forward for the much sought after ‘Hire Supplier of the Year’ and our unique rehire service has been named in the ‘SafeHire Plant, Tool and Equipment Hire Company of the Year’. Last, but definitely not least, our workshop manager, Steven Jones is lined up against two others in the final of the ‘Workshop Manager of the Year’ category.
“We are absolutely delighted to be in these finals, it’s not the first time we have entered these awards, but it most certainly the first time we have been nominated as finalists in five individual sections”, said Mat Llewellyn. “There are some great people, products and rental firms in these finals. The whole MHM team is very excited and eagerly looking forward to the awards ceremony in April,” added Mat.
The Hire Awards of Excellence 2020 will be held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on Saturday 4th April. This much-anticipated awards ceremony, which is a stand-out event in many hire companies’ calendars, is expected to be attended by a diverse selection of the hire industry’s leading individuals and organisations. https://awards.hae.org.uk/finalists/
“The most revealing aspect of this year’s Executive Hire Show was the positivity and genuine thirst for innovation coming from the visitors to our stand,” says Mat Llewellyn
“We were very busy throughout the two days,” continued Mat, “with representatives visiting our stand from both the independent and national hire sectors.”
We experienced a keen interest in all our equipment and in particular our new range of fluid storage products which were officially launched at the show. We are now seeking dealer/stockists throughout the country to market our range of fluid storage tanks and are keen to speak to any interested parties.
Especially for the show, we put together an expert solar/hybrid team to help guide visitors through our expanding low and emission-free power generation and site lighting range, which generated a stream of leads from all spheres of the rental market.
We also showcased our new 160kVA super-silenced generator and, together with our recent Honda dealership status, expand our ‘Ready to Rent’ range of generators from 1.25 to 160kVA.
In addition, our participation in the show’s Innovation Trail’ also proved to be fruitful. Following the presentation of the MHM MG 6000SSY ECO Generator by Mat, he was immediately approached by leading independent hire firm who, after watching the presentation, believed that the ECO auto stop/start module fitted into the generator could be the ideal solution for one of his clients. Arrangements for a demonstration were set up straight after the show.
“Our marketing and sales teams are going to be very busy over the coming months following up on the many enquires we received during the show. The organisers should be congratulated for successfully attracting so many quality visitors from here and overseas”, added Mat.
Launched in 2007, Executive Hire Show is a national exhibition for the tools, equipment, and plant hire industry. The show was held on 6th and 7th February 2020, at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.
Nixon Hire the nationwide supplier of plant, tools, site accommodation and welfare units are increasing their fleet of lighting towers with the addition of twenty-five X-HYBRID SOLAR and two hundred X-ECO LED sets.
The company already has an extensive fleet of Trime manufactured lighting sets and these additional units will enable Nixon Hire to meet with increasing demand during the fast approaching winter months.
A spokesperson from Nixon Hire said, “Every year MHM Plant support Nixon Hire with additional tower lights to complement our own fleet of tower lights and solar products. As a business we purchase Trime lights so with MHM using the same lighting towers this is a perfect fit for our business.”
“MHM Plant are our go to supplier for all consignment stock lighting towers and as soon as they informed us about their solar lights, it made perfect sense to create a partnership, using these as an additional renewable product to go along wide our own fleet of solar products,” added Nixon Hire.
The X-ECO LED has a number of environmental qualities and safety aspects. The set is fitted with the AMOSS safety system, which automatically lowers the mast if the lighting set is moved whilst the mast is still erected. The complete unit features an external emergency stop button, a fully bunded fuel tank, four height adjustable stabilisers and site levels for guidance during deployment. The energy saving LED lamps will work for up to 50000 hours without replacement.
The X-HYBRID SOLAR lighting units are powered through an individually designed hybrid power supply system. This comprises of a solar panel connected to rechargeable batteries backed-up by a small diesel engine. The combined system substantially lowers fuel usage with a corresponding reduction of CO2 emissions.
All Nixon Hire equipment is available to hire nationwide.
Founded in 1967, Nixon Hire is a family-run business employing over 560 people across an ever-expanding depot network. The company has over 50 years of experience in supplying a wide range of equipment for construction sites and events.
